Figurative painter Robert Beauchamp (1923-1995) was born in Denver, Colorado. He studied art with Boardman Robinson at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center. He served three years in the Navy during World War II and then enrolled in the Cranbrook Academy.

Soon after, he studied with Hans Hofmann, a highly influential teacher of modern art. His work with Hans Hofmann lasted three years in both Provincetown, Massachusetts and in Manhattan.
