Rudolph Baschant (1894-1973) was an Austrian graphic artist and a member of the famous Bauhaus School, studying and working with founder Walter Gropius (1883-1969), creating many memorable posters and illustrations throughout the Art Deco era that are still recognized around the world today.

Beside his work as a graphic artist he was avid plant collector, and over his lifetime classified more than 20,000 specimens, keeping them in a herbarium that is today part of the Botanical Museum in Berlin-Dahlem.
