Myron Waldman

Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1908, Myron Waldman was an impressive force in the animation industry. He studied art at the Pratt Institute and began working with Fleischer Studio in 1930. There, he did some of his most famous work, including Betty Boop, Raggedy Ann, Gulliver’s Travels, the animated adaptations of Superman, Casper the Friendly Ghost and, of course, Popeye. Throughout his career, which continued into the 1980's, Waldman was an animator in more than 150 films and television shows, and was the animation director for more than fifty. In 1986, he was awarded the Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Award, and in 1997 he was honored with the Winsor McCay Award, presented in recognition of a lifetime of achievements in animation. Waldman passed away in 2006, but his work continues to inspire and delight kids of every age.
