Born in Iquitos, Peru in 1969, Canrubi began as a self-taught artist, but it was not long before he was introduced to masters of painting and studied under them. Among such artists were Tilsa Tsuchylla and Lasislao Plasencki. Although his primarily undertook his studies in Peru, he also studied painting and sculpture in Ecuador. Canrubi's talent is undeniable and his paintings can be found in collections in Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Italy, and the United States.
